One day Ms Fothergill told us that we weren’t going to write our weekend recounts in the usual way. Instead of drafting a story in our books we were going to draft pictures and then a script.

After we drafted the pictures we chose which comic layout we wanted to use and published our pictures. Then Ms Fothergill used her cell phone to record our scripts. Then she put them together in a voicethread.

In the weekend I went to my Nan’s and Granddad’s house for dinner.

For dinner I had meat, broccoli, potatoes and salad. After dinner I played with the dolls. After that I had pudding. I had peaches and ice-cream. It was yum.

At the end I went home straight to bed.

On the weekend I went to golf. I hit the ball very far away and it almost hit the green. I got my chipper and got it in the hole.

We played nine holes and then went home for dinner.

On Friday I went to Kate’s house and Hannah T came too.

We played schools. After that we played with the bubbles. We made huge bubbles.

Next we went on the trampoline.

Finally I went home and we had fish and chips.

In the weekend I went to the pools.

First I went to get changed into my togs. Then I walked around the edge of the pool to get to the step. Next I went down the steps into the pool and went for a swim.

After that Mum said that I could get some popcorn, so I got my popcorn and went home to eat it.

On Sunday I drove to Porirua to get my Mum some shoes but instead we ended up buying one pair of shoes for my Mum and three pairs for me.

My Mum and Dad bought me a pair of sneakers, a pair of boots and a pair of ordinary old shoes.

Finally we were able to go home. I even fell asleep on the way home because I was really tired.

On Sunday I went to Wellington for my Pop’s birthday.

We went out for lunch. I had hot-dogs and chips and I had an orange juice as well.

Then we went home and I played with Laura.

On Saturday I went to Auckland for the very first time.

When we got there we went to an air show. But an unexpected surprise happened. We were allowed to go to Butterfly Creek. We spent the rest of the day there.

Then we went back home because it was only a day trip.

On Sunday I had a quiet day because I was tired.

On Sunday I went to pick lots of fruit and vegetables.

I got the least apples but I got the most beans. Nicole, my sister, got a whole basket full.

At the end Nicole was crying because her bucket was getting heavy. When we were going to the car I was crying because we couldn’t get an ice-cream.

On the weekend I went to the Wairarapa for a party.

When we got there I had a spider drink. It has vanilla ice-cream and Fanta. It was yummy.

After we opened the presents it was time to have a lolly scramble. I got heaps of them.

Then we got our lolly bag and it was time to go home.

In the weekend I stayed the night at my friend Lucy’s house. After I got there and unpacked we set out the beds.

Next we started to play on the computer. We played on the Sims 2 while her mum, Nikki, was cooking dinner. Then we got off the computer because it was Lucy’s sister Charlotte’s go and she is 17 years old.

After that we played a board game. After our board game dinner was ready. We had sushi because that’s Lucy’s favourite.

Finally we went to bed. I was so tired that I went out like a light.

On Saturday I went to my friends birthday.

Once I got there we went to the pools. Then we went back to Robert’s house.

Following that we watched a movie. Finally everyone went home except me and Zac.

We stayed the night. We played Ben 10 Alien Force and watched Indiana Jones. We played wrestling and soccer on the tramp.

Then me and Zac went home.

Last week Dylan came to my house.

We played Lego and bounced on the trampoline. Then later on we played monkeys on the swings.

When we went back inside we got the table ready for tea. Then we had tea.

After tea Dylan had to go home. Then after that it was 8:30 so I went right off to dreamland. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

In the weekend I went to Otaki with my mum and my dad and my sister Sophia.

First we went to Jay Jays. Next we went to Pumpkin Patch.

After that we went to The Brown Sugar Cafe. I had a brownie. It was really nice.

Finally we jumped in the car because it was getting cold. When we got home I had dinner and then I went to bed.

On Saturday I went to Feilding for Feilding Field Days.

Then, when we got there, we couldn’t find my Aunty Linn, so my mum rung her and asked her where she was. As always, she was at the steam trains. At last she caught up with us.

When it was time to leave, I went home on the steam train with my mum and my Aunty.

Finally me, my mum and my Aunty got home. I was glad because I was really tired and was asleep in two minutes!

One of the fantastic things for a teacher is seeing students learn about different ways of writing. We’ve been learning about using “time” or “sequence” words to start sentences in our recounts.

Here are some of today’s stories.

On Monday I went to my cousins birthday.

First we went to 10-pin bowling.

Then we had some lollies.

Next we went to the park and had a drink.

Finally we went home.

In the weekend I went to Splash Planet because I had a touch tournament in Napier.

At Splash Planet I went down the fast water slide. Then I went in the warm pool. I stayed in there for a long time.

At the end I went to Burger King for dinner. It was fun.

Last night Charlotte came for the night.

For tea we had roast pork. After tea she booked in for my Zany Club. Then we decided to go to bed.

Next we woke up and had breakfast.

Finally I went to school and had fun.

On Saturday me, my Dad and my sister harvested our tomatoes.

We got three ice-cream containers!

I harvested in the garden (with my sister) and my Dad harvested the other side. When I finished my side I helped Dad on his side.

Finally he picked the tomatoes I missed.

Our tomatoes taste great.

Eli made two movies to go with this story. And I got some of the tomatoes – they are very delicious. (Ms F)

Yesterday I didn’t go to my sister’s birthday because it wasn’t for boys. So I stayed at my shop to play on my bike and scooter.

Then my brother Joshua and I played on the playstation. After that we ate our dinner.

Finally we went to bed.

Then a big bird flew down and almost got her, but she hid just in time.

When it was gone she climbed up to her slide.

Then she fell down into her pool for a paddle.

One day she decided to go for a walk. She found a pot plant with a tree in it so she hopped into it and hid, but nobody came.

Then she climbed a bit higher.

Next she climbed right to the top to look at the view for a while.

After that she got a bit bored so she decided to slide down to go home and have a quiet rest after all that climbing.
