What’s happening this week?

Published by dragonsinger under from the teacher

We’ve had a very busy start to term 2. We’re learning about Greek and Roman Myths and Legends at the moment and there are some interesting links to check out.

http://myths.e2bn.org/mythsandlegends/

This site has lots of stories and a fabulous story creator – try your hand at writing your own animated myth.

Log into Smartkiddies to access some cool maths games – http://www.smartkiddies.co.nz/ – each student in Room 10 has the login information for this site.

Don’t forget Tutpup too – great for multiplication practise.

And here is the lastest homework:

Homework

Published by dragonsinger under from the teacher, homework

As I discussed in class yesterday (Thursday) you have a range of choices for the presentation of the written part of your homework.

  • Handwrite in your homework book
  • Type up on computer, print out and glue into your homework book
  • Use some kind of pictorial format to present it in your book
  • Do it all electronically and email it to me – dragonsinger57@gmail.com
  • make a video and email or post to youtube or give to me on flash drive
  • Or any other creative way that we haven’t already thought of
  • Picture 4.png

Click on the homework picture to see the full version. Don’t forget you can practise your maths on Tutpup.com.

    IWB and other new stuff

Published by dragonsinger under from the teacher, lats09, mimio

This year Room 10 is getting an interactive whiteboard – sorta – we’re getting a mimio which is attached to the existing whiteboard but can act like a full-blown IWB. Along with that will come a brand-new data projector.

I am going to do some training at the Learning@School conference next week to learn about some activities I can do with the mimio.

The best thing about IWBs is that it’s not a teacher-only tool – so the students in Room 10 will be learning how to use it too.

    Welcome to 2009

Published by dragonsinger under from the teacher

It’s a new year – last year’s students have moved on to new classrooms and new teachers and I have a new group of 30 students to introduce to blogging.

Along with blogging we will all be going on a journey learning about IWB (the mimio kind) this year.

My holidays were spent in very cold temperatures (-22C to 0C) and learning about snow – shovelling it, sweeping it, walking through it (boots/snow shoes) and even driving in/through/on it. I discovered that snow isn’t so much of a problem as the snow-turned-into-ice-and-lying-6″-thick-on-the-road is!

    Homework Week 8

Published by dragonsinger under from the teacher

There are two parts to this weeks homework – one relating to news and one relating to Christmas. On the homework sheet I asked you to go to the class message board – BUT – you could enter your replies here at this blog. You will need to click on the link underneath this post (it will say either “no reponses yet” or “___ response so far”. When you click on the link you will get a box to write your answers in. Sign it with your initials.

    Part One:
Find something interesting in the newspaper to share. It may be an online newspaper or one of our local ones. You may either write about it or share it online.

    Part Two:
There are a number of traditional things we do at Christmas time. Choose ONE tradition and find out as much information as you can about it. You can either write the information on this sheet or in your homework book; write it into the Christmas message discussion thread (read the instructions first) OR write it up on the computer and email it to me (or as a comment in this blog). Some traditions include: cards, presents, dinner, trees, crackers, carols, stockings.

The class message board can be found here: http://www.raumatibeach.school.nz/learning_caves/set/45
    .

You may also email me your work. Once you’ve got it all typed up come back and click on the link to email your work to me.
