An Exciting Tuesday

Published by dragonsinger under Uncategorized

We had a special visitor today – Greg, a Park Ranger at Florida Everglades National Park in the USA. Greg is Eli’s uncle.

We’re all wearing our Junior Park Ranger badges in this photo.

Thanks Greg for taking time out of your holiday to talk to us. It was awesome. We all learned something new (even Ms Fothergill).

Thursday = Pataka & Aotea Lagoon

Published by dragonsinger under trip

Room 10 and Room 12 went on a trip to Pataka today. We had lots of fun learning about the colour red and doing stencil art. (More to come about that.)

After both classes had gone through the gallery and classroom programmes we went in the bus to Aotea Lagoon where we had lunch and a play before going back to school.

Autumn Leaves voice thread

Published by dragonsinger under voicethread

Voicethread is a way of allowing people to show off some artwork or writing and let other people comment on it. We are going to be using voicethread to showcase some of our work. I’ve started with our class Autumn Leaves Cinquain project.

Friday Roundup – 12 June

Published by dragonsinger under friday

This is our first Friday roundup. We have started to skype with another room in the school and today we were having problems so we videoed our report in case we couldn’t talk to them. Ms F added some captions.

Ms F changed the room around last night – we got a huge surprise this morning. We did some brainstorming about the changes.

A surprise visitor and leaves!

Published by dragonsinger under activities

Today we had a surprise visit from Mr Pansters from Room 15. He used to teach some of us last year. He told us a really funny story.

After he had gone we dyed our cinquain leaves.

We also did leaf rubbings. Ms Fothergill is going to assemble the dyed leaves, leaf rubbings and real leaves together into one big display. We hope our parents will be proud of our work.

Homework 9-19 June

Published by dragonsinger under Uncategorized

Hi all – here is your homework grid. I’ve created something special for homework since we talked earlier today! I’ve set up a homework only blog. You can go there – check out the specific item to comment on (SPELLING) and add your words as a comment. Here is the link to the blog: http://room10rbshomework.blogspot.com/. I think we’re going to be using blogging more in the classroom so this is good practise for you. You can also bring your words in and add them at school.

Collaborative Poem about Autumn – via Etherpad

Published by dragonsinger under writing

In our groups we came up with word/s to do with each sense then everyone took turns to write up one idea under each sense. You can see how it looks on etherpad too: http://etherpad.com/j6Iy6lqdWT

Autumn:

Looks like:

* leaves falling off trees
* leafless trees colourful
* colourful ground
* Red orange yellow leaves
* leaves are falling.

feels like:

* cold and windy
* Chilly wet Mushy.
* like a freezin’ freezer
* cold breeze
* it feels crispy

sounds like:

* loud
* splashing crunchy
* whistling
* rustling swishing leaves
* leaves rustling

smells like:

* fresh wind
* Smoky Fresh trees
* disgusting
* smelling cold
* fresh air from the trees

tastes like:

* yuck
* hot soup and hot chocolate
* chocolate cake
* dirty cold leaves
* tastes sweet
